Moringa tree creates sustainable development

​

The Moringa Nexus Network is a non-profit project promoting the recognition and adoption of the Moringa Oleifera tree. Our advocacy group is dedicated to the sustainable development of the Moringa sector globally.

​

Certain features are necessary to create sustainable development :

​

• Actionable integrative pathways to implement, at the local level, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or the 5 Ps: People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnership and Peace.

• Consideration of the environment and climate footprint in every decision.

• Partnerships between the private sector, civil society and governments are necessary to achieve sustainable development.

The multiple benefits of the Moringa tree naturally answer many of these needs :

​

• Moringa produces quality nutrition for both humans and animals.

• Moringa is a resilient and sustainable resource. It provides high carbon sequestration and beneficial climate solutions.

• Moringa is excellent for intercropping. Moringa roots feed and clean the soil so that planting Moringa alongside other crops generates multiple revenue streams to empower the most vulnerable.

 

Programs using the Moringa Nexus Concept generate concrete pathways to integrate the 5 Ps, or the SDGs, and implement them at the local level.

Our activities include :​​

• Public outreach about the vast benefits of the Moringa.

• Empowerment of local communities through production and consumption of Moringa.

• Uniting grassroots Moringa actors to ensure that their interests are represented at the policy level.

• Promoting the development of a supportive institutional, legal and political framework to support the harmonious development of the Moringa sector.

• Developing an economic model and partnerships with the aim of creating a Moringa farm.
